What do skin boosters help with?

They promote hydration, give you an amazing glow to your skin, tighten pores, and help improve fine lines and scarring. They also stimulate collagen and certain types of skin boosters can help brighten your skin. People feel like they do not need to use makeup after getting this treatment.

What are skin boosters made of?

Skin boosters are made of hyaluronic acid and antioxidants. They also sometimes contain brightening ingredients. The hyaluronic acid in skin boosters is very different to that used in fillers. It is not volumising at all and it is injected into the surface layers of the skin.

How does it work?

We inject skin boosters in very superficial layers of the skin using a technique called mesotherapy. Some are injected using a cannula which is a blunt tipped instrument. They work by deeply hydrating the skin, stimulating collagen, tightening pores and improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and scars.

What should I expect from the treatment?

The first time you get skin boosters you usually need 2-3 sessions 3 weeks apart. There will be lots of tiny injections in the surface layers of the skin. We usually use numbing cream to numb the area for around 20 mins. You may have small bumps which last a day or two.

Are there any side effects of Skin boosters?

Skin boosters are extremely safe and do not carry some of the risks associated with the hylauronic acid in fillers. However, all injectable treatments carry a small risk of bruising, swelling and infection. It is important to follow the aftercare to minimise the risk.

What areas can be treated with Skin boosters?

Skin boosters are usually used for the face and neck.

Are Skin boosters painful?

The needles used for skin boosters are extremely small and most patients tolerate them very well.

Who is suitable and not suitable for this treatment?

All patients are suitable for skin boosters. Anyone looking for an intense skin treatment to improve the quality and texture of the skin, wrinkles, pores and scarring will benefit from this. Even patients with good skin overall notice an improvement and a glass skin effect with this treatment. Pregnant and breastfeeding women can not have any injectable treatments due to the small risk of infection.

How is it different from fillers and Profhilo?

It is different to fillers as it does not volumise the face at all. We often use it in combination with fillers as it is important your skin matches the volume in your face. If there is good volume but you have loose skin, it does not appear natural. It is different to Profhilo as it treats more surface layers of the skin. We also often combine with Profhilo as they do different things and Profhilo is better for lifting and tightening the skin. Skin boosters can also be used on the forehead but Profhilo cannot.

How long do skin boosters last?

Results last 6-9 months. We recommend patients get a single session to top up every 3-6 months depending on the degree of skin concern.
