Clear and Brilliant Laser

Clear and Brilliant is an FDA-approved resurfacing non-ablative fractional laser with minimal downtime and high safety profile, especially for people of colour. It has no risk of pigmentation and is suitable for all skin colours all year round. It’s comfortable, safe and extremely effective.

The Clear and Brilliant laser is suitable for multiple skin concerns. It improves skin texture, pores, sun damage, pigmentation, scars and fine lines. If you’re looking to up your skincare game and want more than a facial or a peel, this is the right laser for you.

This particular laser's target is water and not the colour of pigmentation like many other lasers, which makes it completely safe for all skin colours. It provides more of a result than a chemical peel and a facial, but it is less invasive than Morpheus 8 or other fractional lasers such as Fraxel. We often combine treatments at the No Filter Clinic for the best results.

There is minimal downtime; you will only have redness for 6 hours and see results from one session. A course of 3-6 sessions is recommended depending on the skin concern.

About

About Clear and Brilliant Laser

The Clear and Brilliant is a resurfacing non-ablative fractional laser. Fractional means it breaks the single laser beam into many narrow, smaller light microbeams so a fraction of skin is treated. These microbeams penetrate just below the superficial layer of the skin, creating columns of heat. This stimulates the body's natural healing process and collagen production and encourages cell renewal. The skin surrounding these microcolumns of heat is left untreated, which reduces the risk previously associated with other lasers and allows for much faster recovery.

The laser uniquely combines two different wavelengths. One wavelength targets the deeper layer of the skin to tighten pores, improve skin texture and complexion, and soften wrinkles and fine lines. The newer wavelength, the Perméa, is a potent surface-layer exfoliator, which is great for treating pigmentation and overall skin tone. When you apply specialised bespoke serums after this treatment, the penetration is 17x deeper. For example, you get much faster results if you use something like Vitamin C.

It was FDA approved in 2011 and has been very well-established in the US as one of the most important lasers for dermatologists. Very few clinics in the UK have it at present. It is the only laser we are aware of that is FDA-approved for reducing pore size.

FAQs

Please see our most commonly asked questions below

What kind of results can be achieved?
The Clear and Brilliant laser is good for multiple skin concerns, and it’s good for anti ageing, sun damage, pigmentation, textural irregularities, scars and fine lines. It provides more of a result than a chemical peel and a facial, but it is less invasive than Morpheus 8 or other fractional lasers such as Fraxel. The laser can also be used very close to your eyes very safely.
Who is this treatment suitable and not suitable for?
The Clear and Brilliant laser is suitable for all skin types and tones, Fitzpatrick 1-6 and can be used any time of the year. If you’re looking to up your skincare game and want more than a facial or a peel, this is the suitable laser for you. If you are unsure whether to try Clear and Brilliant or another laser or Morpheus 8 at our clinic, please visit for a skin consultation. In general, we recommend Clear and Brilliant for our younger clients for prevention and all age ranges for treatment. Older patients should prioritise Morpheus 8 as it addresses skin laxity. This treatment is not suitable if you’re pregnant.
How does it compare to Lumecca if I have pigmentation?
Lumecca is an excellent IPL for pigmentation and redness but is only suitable for skin types 1-3 and some 4. If you are darker skinned you cannot have it. If you are skin type 1-3 and your primary concern is pigmentation, we would often recommend a combination of Lumecca and Clear and Brilliant for the best results.
How long does it last?
Long term but with any anti-ageing treatments, maintenance is advised.
What is the recovery/downtime?
You will experience mild redness up to 6-hours post-treatment, but that’s it. There is no downtime following that, which is unheard of compared to other lasers on the market. Due to the Clear and Brilliant laser being non-ablative, it won’t take away the entire surface of the skin, which may be associated with other lasers.
What are the side effects and risks?
There are lots of different fractional lasers available on the market, such as CO2 or Fraxel, but these lasers have more risks of post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening of the skin following treatment) and have more extended downtime. There is no risk of this with Clear and Brilliant as it is a non-ablative laser with less energy per treatment than Fraxel, which means you need more sessions for similar results to Fraxel but there is less downtime and risk.
How painful is the treatment?
You need numbing cream for this treatment, but once applied, the pain is low and bearable, and the main thing you will feel is a slight warmth to the skin. We will also ensure you are as comfortable as possible throughout the treatment.

How is it done?
The Clear and Brilliant is a resurfacing non-ablative fractional laser. Fractional means it breaks the single laser beam into many narrow, smaller light microbeams so a fraction of skin is treated. These microbeams penetrate just below the superficial layer of the skin, creating columns of heat. This stimulates the body's natural healing process and collagen production and encourages cell renewal. The skin surrounding these microcolumns of heat is left untreated, which reduces the risk previously associated with other lasers and allows for much faster recovery. The Clear and Brilliant is unique because it has two different wavelengths. There are other similar non-ablative fractional lasers on the market; another popular one is called Moxi. The reason the Clear and Brilliant is unique is because these two different wavelengths can be used at the same time. One is the original 1927 nanometer wavelength which treats deeper layers of the skin. This tightens pores, improves skin texture and complexion, and softens wrinkles and fine lines. The newer piece, Perméa, is a 1440 nanometer wavelength and a very powerful surface-layer exfoliator.
